God Has Prepared A Table For You

This is a word for survivors. Let’s start off with this understanding, Mephibosheth was a young kid when Jonathan and his grandfather, Saul lost their lives. They were, in fact killed and Jonathan was good friends with David and because of a commitment that they had made, David wanted to make sure that he was honoring his commitment to his friend even though Jonathan was dead.

David says he had to learn how to encourage himself in the Lord. We’ve had to experience being in flux for an extended period of time and that is where David finds himself in this extended period of time but when the dust settles, David is no longer hiding out in the cave, no longer hanging out with the Philistines. When the dust settles, David is sitting in the official authoritative seat of God. He is in the place where God’s anointing and authority rest.

So when the dust settles for David, he is at the right place. He had to relocate and move to the place where the authority, the anointing, the appointment, the assignment where it was all to take place is in Jerusalem.

Now here’s where it gets really interesting, in the 23rd Psalm, verse number 5, the scripture says that “The Lord will prepare a table before us in the presence of our enemies”. So many times, we’ve gotten a bit confused or our sight has gotten narrowed to thinking that the only time that God prepares tables has to do with enemies. Don’t be so enemy-focused that you forget that God just simply prepares tables

Don’t be so enemy-focused to think that the only time that God is going to make provisions for you is in the presence of your enemies.

David survived the assault of Saul and Mephibosheth survived the attack upon his father and grandfather. You need to remember that God has prepared a table and it doesn’t have anything to do with your enemies. This is because the dust has settled. You’re on the other side of something and the Lord wants you to know that he’s got people and circumstances looking to be a blessing for you because of a commitment that the Lord has made.

God will bless you in the presence of your enemies but God will bless you even if there’s no enemies to be found.

David brings Mephibosheth to Jerusalem not because David is an enemy but because David has good in his heart. You may have been surrounded by enemies for a long time but you need to understand that God is getting ready to put you in the presence of people who have good in their heart.

It might take you a minute to let it sink in especially if you’ve had spent a protracted amount of time around people who have been enemies. You might think those are the only people that you can ever be around but God has people that have good in their heart for you. It’s happening right now. I believe it.

And you need to speak blessings upon those that God is going to use to do good for you. God is sending people to bless you. Why? because the Lord has a table prepared for you and it’ll have nothing to do with enemies. It has everything to do with the fact that somebody wants to do good for you.

It makes me happy to know that God has something good prepared for us and it has nothing to do with enemies. It has everything to do with the fact that God is putting good in people’s heart for you. To somebody who’s feeling a little low, know that God has tables prepared, not in your enemy’s presence but with people who have good in their heart for you.
