Hearing Revelation From A Pen

It was early in the morning when I was outside having my morning meeting. I come to these meetings ready to hear, not just talk. This morning I decided to return to my favorite writing instrument. It is slim and fits well in my hand. My notebook was ready to receive the thoughts and ideas that my spirit would obtain as the Lord spoke to me.

Suddenly I had to get up and quickly move into the house. The urge to immediately get up felt so random, but the urgency could not be denied. I stood up with a journal and bible in my arms ready to place them on the table beside me and that’s when I heard it. I’d heard the beginning sound of a revelation from the Lord. It was the sound of my favorite writing instrument hitting the cement porch. You’ve heard things drop before, and that sound lasts only a micron of a second. I instantly knew my pen had fallen out of my lap.

The revelation began with that sound and progressed when I looked around to see where it had fallen. I couldn’t see it at all. Nothing. For a moment I concluded that the problem in finding the pen was the absence of my glasses. I put them on and still was unable to see the pen. I turned the phone light on to assist considering that the dark mulch was working against my efforts of locating my pen. It did not help. Completely undeterred by the situation because I knew the pen had not vanished,

I stood up and asked the Lord (audibly) “Where is my pen?”. I waited a moment to hear.

I can’t imagine what it must have looked like to any of the neighbors who might have been peeking at me through their blinds. I stood there waiting for the answer to my question. The silence was awkward, but I wasn’t going to move until I heard an answer.

I didn’t have a stopwatch to count the minutes or moments. It wasn’t necessary. I had asked God, “Where is my pen?” and God is the one who sets the pace for revelation. “Get down low and look under this bush” was the only words of instruction I’d heard. At first glance, I still didn’t see my favorite wiring instrument. “Look”. That was the instruction. Once I realized that looking would be required to see the pen, I was able to retrieve my writing instrument, but more importantly, I was able to receive the rest of what God was saying to me.

Just before I sensed the immediate urge to go into the house, I was meditating on how to walk in revelation, and how God makes clear the hidden around us. Revelation given to us by God brings hidden things to light, and obscure things become clear.

God was teaching me that when I shift my visual plane I will be able to see and understand what I had missed previously.

The small act of getting on my knees and looking around from that visual plane allowed me to see everything that had been obscured previously. Revelation from God has saved my life from evil snares and enhanced my life with divinely directed steps. I have experienced personal victories as a result of receiving revelation from God. I have experienced blueprints for ministry assignments as a result of receiving revelation from God. Yet, on this particular morning, God was giving me more revelation for my future. God was telling me that my plane of prophetic sight had shifted.

Things that had been obscured to me before were no longer going to blend into the surroundings because God has given me a new line of prophetic sight. My visual plane for the future of the Kingdom assignment entrusted to me by the Lord has shifted.

I have a question for those who are reading. Has the Lord spoken to you about your visual plane being adjusted? If the Lord has spoken to you about prophetically seeing those things that have become blended into the environment so effectively until you can distinguish between them, then you understand the value of revelation. Time is short before God will begin to open new pathways of ministry. Let me help you get prepared. Enroll in the fall semester of Tethered to Eternity and let’s adjust your prophetic line of sight.
