Make The Switch To Faith

There is more than one way beloved to relate to God. There’s only one Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. There’s only one Alpha and Omega. There’s only one sovereign God. There’s only one omnipotent God. There’s only one omnipresent God but there’s more than one way to relate to him. He has only one son and there’s only one way to be saved by Him which is through Jesus Christ.

There’s a lot of ways to relate to the Father, there’s a lot of ways to relate to the Son and there’s a lot of ways to relate to Holy Spirit because the relating talks about how we engage with the Father, with Jesus and with Holy Spirit whose earthly ministry is taking place right here and right now. There’s a whole lot of ways to do it and there’s also a whole lot of ways that we engage with God’s Word.

One way that we can engage is historically. A lot of people engage with God, Jesus and the bible historically and for those who relate historically, Jesus is just simply another man who once lived at a certain time, in a certain region on the continent of Africa. So for people who deal historically, it’s just the fact there was a man named Jesus and they just look at it historically.

There’s also people who deal with scripture historically and what they do is they see it as just a collection of writings from people who lived some time ago. It’s just another piece of literature and for those who don’t deal with and relate to God historically, some just deal with God mythologically in that way, they think that God and all of scripture is just another tale. It’s just another story that has been perpetuated through time by ancient people and it has come down through the centuries like other fables from other civilizations.

Some people will deal with the bible like it’s just another mythological story. There are some people who deal with God and the scripture superstitiously. They don’t look at it as a history of another civilization and another time in a different region of the world.

They look at it superstitiously and we see that method in which people focus all of their attention on various rituals they have, these habitual rope prayers that they pray, an activity that has had no proven results but they just keep on doing it over and over again. They pray the way they heard somebody else’s prayer because what they’re really doing is dealing with God superstitiously.

They deal with God superstitiously because they don’t have relationship with God. They just do what they’ve always seen somebody else do and then they make that into how you’re supposed to relate to God, not personally but through these rituals that have no life in them whatsoever.

People can deal with God historically, they can deal with God mythologically, they can deal with God superstitiously and guess what? People have also, in time and memorial, have dealt with God religiously. If there was one method to describe how God’s people in Israel related to him, I think that word would be “religiously”. They dealt for so long with God religiously, clearly they wouldn’t have just dealt with him historically.

Primarily we see in the scripture how they dealt with God religiously and not from a relationship standpoint. Why? because if they had dealt with God primarily from a relationship standpoint, they wouldn’t have spent so much of their time doing the things God told them not to do. When you have relationship with people, you listen to what they’re saying and you seek to do what they’re asking or expecting of you because of the relationship.

When you’re really relating to God relationally, then you do what the Lord says to

do and you don’t do what the Lord said not to do.

You can get saved even if you still don’t know how to relate to God. So, you if you’re not taught and have Christ formed in you, you will begin to relate to God the way you related to everything else before you came to the Lord Jesus. That’s what’s happening to Israel. They’re still in this mindset of relating according to Egyptian culture and then we have that infamous golden calf incident, a visual reminder that they don’t know how to relate to God.

It was that golden calf incident that was the turning point in all of their religious practices. It marked their transitioning away from what they had seen the Egyptians do to their false gods and now it is turning to how God wants them to relate to his festivals and his laws and how to deal with his tabernacle and how to be in a covenant relationship.

There comes a time where God will cause you to transition in your covenant relationship with Him and make you relate to Him differently. The golden calf incident demonstrated that not making the switch will have consequences.

Every time the scripture gives us a warning and insight into how we can avoid some circumstances, when we don’t make a switch we can experience some consequences. This happens to be the case as Paul is explaining to the believers in Rome that the difference between staying in the same old mindset and switching to what God was doing in the Kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ is dropping the law and going by faith.

What you need to do is that you need to stop trying to stay in the law which requires you to depend on works. When you drop the law as your only way to relate to God then that means you realize that your relationship with God is not based on your good works but it is based on faith”.

That means whatever doors God decides to open for you, it’s not because you worked super duper hard but because you worked hard by faith. It doesn’t mean that you sit back and be lazy. What God is saying is that what we do, we do it by faith.

Everything that we receive from God, we receive it by faith. You may not want to admit it but you need to make the switch to faith in some areas of your life that you’ve been holding off.

It’s time to switch to faith in every area of your life. The first switch you need to make is into salvation and even that, God already gives us the faith to do it. He plants in our hearts enough faith to get saved. We need to accept Jesus because you can only accept him by faith. You can only live this life that he wants you to live by faith so he gives us some faith to get saved. The first switch you need to make is out of darkness and coming to the throne of God, use the faith that Jesus makes available to you.

“I accept you Jesus that you are the Son of the living God that you have paid for my sins that I can live eternally in the presence of the Lord”.
