When Gods Don't Answer

Most Christians are absolutely aware of the passage of scripture when Ahab came through a line that sat on the throne as king but he messed around and married the wrong woman. He married Jesebel who did not honor or know his God. She was a priestess for another God. It caused so many problems for the whole nation because of the way that Ahab lived his life as king over Israel. 

But now, we’ve come to the place where there is a crescendo, there is a confrontation, there is this moment where God has said “Enough is enough”. Some of you know it already but the Lord will give you a grace period. He will give you room and space to run as far as He will let you run before he will say “I’ve had enough of this, you pushed me too far” and that is where we are seeing this confrontation between Ahab, Jesebel and the prophet Elijah. 

When Gods Don’t Answer. 

The first reason why Gods don’t answer is because of the questions that are being asked. This confrontation was about truth, it was not about power. We first reason out why Baal did not answer, it was because what was being presented was an issue of truth, not an issue of power. 

There are times where the people who are representatives of these false deities were able to produce magic, works, activities that looked like power. They had some power but God has all power. There is a difference between the power and this is why you need to know which source is bringing the power. Where is it originating from? Why didn’t Baal answer? 

Holy Spirit said the reason that the Gods of Baal could not answer the the confrontation is because it was an issue of truth, not of power. Elijah said “Let the God who is really God answer by fire”. Fire was a demonstration of power. When the imitation God became challenged to show the true God, those false Gods could not answer. God says the only reasonable conclusion that you must accept is that those prophets could not answer because God would not let them answer. 

Why didn’t Baal respond? 

His prophets were yelling, screaming, dancing and cutting themselves all day and Baal could not respond. God shut them up because this was a battle for transition. When the Bible tells us that when you call out to our God, he hears. The Bible tells us that our God is at all places at all times. 

Your God must be asleep but my God does not sleep nor does my God slumber. 

Elijah begins to say to pour the water on. He said three times “Pour the water on” and they lit the match, Elijah did not have to dance. He did not have to sing, he did not have to do any kind of tricks. He just said “Oh Lord my God, answer me and when you do, they will know that you are God.” God immediately answered the prophet and burned up the sacrifice and licked up the water. From that point, everybody standing around were in awe. 

When Elijah saw that the eyes of the people had opened and their hearts had been clicking back to God, they were ready to repent and come back to God. The prophet was saying that we are going to make a swift and complete transition. 

When you get ready and you decide to leave false deities, you can’t have one foot in that camp and another foot in God’s camp because that camp will always seduce you away from the heart of God. 

Sometimes people think their freedom is going to come swift and easy and with no struggle but God is setting some people up for you to be transitioned over into fullness of the Lord. Somebody is in the process of going through a transition. You are in the process of going through a transition because God loves you that much. 

Even if he has to set up a confrontation to get you transitioned out of darkness. Israel’s heart had been gripped by false Gods but it took a brave prophet to stand and say “Alright, enough of this”. 

God is going to transition you out of the grip of the enemy. 

God is trying to get you to transition. He is trying to work on your testimony. Your testimony becomes prophecy. He is working your testimony. 

Sometimes our greatest testimonies come after great confrontations but when you know that God has sent you with a word you stand boldly and let God shut the mouth of the enemy.
