Being Oily In Presence And Power
It all began the first week of January 2019, God started sending me bottles of olive oil. In addition to receiving these bottles of oil, I would also receive messages from people that spoke about the oil on my life. After receiving the third delivery of oil, I shouted to God, “Okay, Lord, I hear you about the oil.” You see, God was affirming and reinforcing the divine message that the “oil,” the anointing of God is upon my life.
What is the anointing? In the purest description, the anointing is the enablement of God manifesting in the work and life of God’s servants (see the book of Exodus). The reason the anointing has been referred to as “the oil” is because of the Biblical act of taking the oil from crushed olives and pouring it upon those set aside to serve God. When God began telling me, “You’ve got that oil,” I knew the Lord was telling me that supernatural enablement had been placed upon my ministry and life.
Last week I was driving to a vendor. I exited the highway and was going to
proceed directly to the vendor. Just as I exited the interstate highway, I felt the unction of the Holy Spirit to first go to a computer store that was on the corner just after exiting the highway. I immediately rationalized in my mind why I needed to go to that store. Although I like tech merchandise, I didn’t need any tech products, so why bother going to the store. There was no time to continue this rational inquiry; therefore, I immediately turned right and proceeded into the parking lot of the store.
Well, the store was not open and would not be opened for a couple of hours. Indeed the Lord didn’t want me sitting in a parking lot to enter a store in which I had nothing on my list to purchase. I shrugged my shoulders, voiced an audible “Okay Lord,” made a U-turn and reengaged with my original course. Sitting at the corner, intending to turn right, I waited for the traffic light to turn green and pondered, “Lord, why did you want me pulling into a parking lot of a store that isn’t even opened?” Just then a big yellow rig pulled up beside me. Holy Spirit answered my question with a question; “Look, what do you see?” Like a targeting mechanism, my eyes locked onto the piston and cabling on the big yellow rig. I responded, “I see the oil. There’s a lot of oil on that machine.” Holy Spirit then spoke this word, “You have the oil necessary for heavy lifting.” I reached for my phone and snapped a couple of pictures just before the light turned green.
Why was it necessary for God to remind me about the type and strength of anointing that has been poured upon my life and ministry? It was essential for the same reason God is speaking to other servants about the type and strength of oil on their lives. In my particular case, I’ve been in a spiritual deluge and yet still standing. The only answer available has been the presence and power of the anointing. The presence of the anointing, the oil is mentioned in 1 John 2:27 as abiding inside of believers. The power of the anointing, the oil is mentioned in Isaiah 10:27 destroys yokes.
The first deliveries of oil were contained in bottles. On the other hand, this message of oil was messy and covered the piston and cables. The oil on this big yellow rig was on unexpected parts because it had splattered. The prophetic message is not only demonstrating the presence and power of the oil upon my life (for heavy lifting), but it was also meant to remind me that the oil will not be contained. The oil is going to splatter.
God has my hands on several different “cables” of ministry, and each requires the oil. Not only is the oil enabling my work, but it is also splattered onto those who are closely connected to the cables of ministry surrounding my life.
The anointing on our lives should splatter onto the lives of those who walk closely with us as we are doing great exploits for the Lord.
Sunday, June 2, 2019, was the inaugural worship service for Creative Worship Center. In the realm of the spirit, it was heavy lifting, but my heart was at peace because God had prophetically spoken to me the Word that I have the oil necessary for heavy lifting. Here is the exciting part for me. The team of people God has given to walk alongside me in manifesting Creative Worship Center also demonstrated that the oil for this assignment has been splattered over them.
Have you been splattered with oil that rests on your leader’s life? Have you been splattered with the oil that rests on the church where you presently and historically attended? If you are reading this post, I want you to ask yourself this question, “How oily is my life?” It’s an essential question for those who are serious about serving and loving God right now. If procrastination is one of your habits, then you are probably not very oily. If stubbornness and resistance are a part of your regular mindset, you are probably not very oily.
Today, I’m investing this blog post not merely in sharing what God is doing in my life, but as a prophetic message to those who are genuinely desiring the supernatural enablement of God manifesting in their lives. God detoured me off my planned route only to prophetically tell me, to remind me, that I’m very oily. I prophesy to those reading this blog, those learning with a heart to hear from God, that the Lord shall take you off your planned route to prophetically show you the level and quality of oil on your life. It may be a splatter. If so, that’s fantastic. It may be a soaking. Both are great. Lastly, I pray for those reading this blog whose lives are dry; no oil, no splattering. In these cases, people are functioning in their own strength. If that is you, perhaps you are ready to release that mindset and submit to the Lord. Actually, I prefer this way of living and being more than any other option. I hope you will as well.
